Development, Dates & Themes
Ages 10 to 15 Teen Campers develop and awaken their creative talents through specially developed programs and projects. These projects are targeted to the older child and teenager and are of a more complex nature. Some projects are finished in a day or two and others may take the entire week. Our older campers are pretty savvy with computer basics. They love the challenge of working on their own programs and learning to responsibly explore the Internet. The older campers are allowed to explore the internet on their own, but they must bring signed permission slips that show us they are allowed on the internet. Campers are taught a higher level of computing and are given instruction by our Computer Director that enables them to better understand the computer and how it works. This year, during certain weeks, our Computer Director will be working with the Teen Campers on HTML and XML computer languages. These relate directly to understanding and establishing web pages. Campers enjoy volleyball, soccer, kick ball, box hockey and other sports. Team work, fair play and the joy of competition are constantly emphasized. Teen campers enjoy recreational and instructional swim opportunities. Abilities are evaluated on the first swim day. Red Cross certified instructors teach basic and advanced swim techniques and water safety. Certified lifeguards and camp counselors are always on duty. Campers spend time both indoors and outdoors. Scavenger hunts, karaoke, puppetry, amateur shows and much more are done on a daily basis with emphasis placed on the week's theme. Campers are encouraged to recommend group activities. Parents are invited to view certain camper activities. |
